I have been so grateful for prayers, blessings, and quotes that have been coming in as we are now less than a week from your 13th birthday!!! Over the next few days, I will be sharing the wonderful words for you here as you turn 13 from your fan club.....

Dearest Micah,

As you turn 13 you are truly living into your namesake.  The Message version of the Bible Micah 6:8 is phrased this way:

But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do,
    what God is looking for in men and women.
It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor,
    be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously—
    take God seriously.
 

Your neighbors are all who live in your community.  Your neighbors are your classmates, your teachers, friends, family, the stranger on the street and the person in the news.  You watch out for them and are quick to identify when something is not fair or right.  I pray that you would grow in your ability to recognize injustice and act to make things right.

You are compassionate with your cuddles and the way that you comfort myself, daddy, Liam, your cousins and your friends.  You are a loyal brother to Liam and friend to Isaac.  I pray that your compassion superpower will continue to gain strength so that you have compassion for all who cross your path.  And I pray for your ability to always choose love over anger.

Your playfulness and goofiness is one of the things I most admire about you.  I pray that you will hold on to these qualities as you navigate your teenage years and its pull to think of yourself often, first and foremost.

Your questions about God are awesome. Keep them coming!  I am pretty sure that you will never fully comprehend God or God's love for you. But I pray that you will grow to experience God's love as the most reliable force in the universe.

Happy birthday my Micah man!

You are crossing a threshold into your teenage years and I am so grateful for your childhood and so excited for the growing up years to come.  I pray that God will continue to make you into the person He wants you to become.
